What Is the Story Behind ATX Rugs?
ATX Rugs began in 2017 when I hosted a rug show at my home for my sister-in-law, who had been selling rugs for many years. She encouraged me to bring her collection to Austin, and the rest is history. Since then, I've been working closely with designers and clients, offering in-home appointments once a week and hosting rug shows 2-3 times a year.

Can You Tell Us About the Process of Sourcing Your Rugs?
I'm often on FaceTime with clients, sourcing rugs from our warehouse or directly from Turkey. We also specialize in custom rugs, making the international design process an enjoyable experience. What sets us apart is our personalized service-we'll make multiple visits until we find the perfect rug, and clients can live with options for a week before deciding. Once chosen, we provide complimentary installation with a rug pad and offer pickup services for cleaning or repairs whenever needed.

Before bringing rugs to a client's home, I always discuss their space, furniture plans, color preferences, and style-whether traditional or contemporary. From there, I pull options from our inventory, including a few unexpected pieces that might also work. It's a process that often involves several visits, and sometimes the final choice surprises them, evolving into something they didn't initially expect!

What Trends Have You Noticed in The Demand for Vintage Rugs Recently? Are There Particular Styles or Colors that Are Especially Popular?
Trends vary by city-Austin favors muted vintage rugs, cool tones, and some bright colors. In contrast, Dallas leans toward pastels, and San Antonio prefers bold reds. It also depends on the project. For Colorado and ranch homes, we often use high-pile rugs from Turkey's Kars region with rich brown tones.
