A native of rural West Virginia, she grew up learning commercial real estate in her family’s third-generation business, Woodford Oil Company, where she now serves on the board. She is a graduate of the prestigious boarding school, Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia’s real estate program, where she majored in Real Estate and minored in Finance.
Marla was a broker for 15 years in New York City where she closed over $100- million annually. She participated in the sale of a $40-million dollar penthouse located at 730 Park Avenue. Always fighting for her clients, she does not have a cavalier approach and strongly believes in a lifetime customer. Patience, honesty, correct pricing, the best marketing, and exposure available have been the benchmarks of her success. Marla states, “I eat, breathe, and sleep real estate. It is my passion, my obsession. The first thing I do every morning before I have coffee is look at the new inventory to market.”

Marla is a music enthusiast who has studied classical piano since the age of four. While residing in New York, she taught piano in an after school program at George Jackson Academy in the Lower East Side. She presently volunteers and fosters for Greater German Shepherd Rescue of Houston. Travel is a high priority for Marla. Having lived abroad in Spain, Austria, Australia, and Italy, every year she travels to a new country that she hasn’t seen.
She is married to Executive Chef and restaurateur, Daniel Berg. They are parents to a young baby boy and two rescue dogs, June Carter and Rusty. Marla resides on River Road in Tarrytown and is a member of the Tarrytown Boat Club and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
